Installing Linux in a triple-boot on a MacIntel machine?

posted Monday, 30 October 2006
Have been working on a joint article where I'm trying to tell people how to get Linux, Windows, and OS X all on the same MacIntel machine in a triple boot setup. My partner in crime is having a hard time getting this working (Apple wouldn't send me the hardware, as usual), and right now is stuck where during the Linux install it stops because it can't write to the "0 partition." Anyone have any pointers? It would be a very helpful article since most of the online help material is very vague and not particularly helpful, but the deadline is coming up fast and soon I'm going to have to give up and do it on another topic if we can't get this working.

I have been having trouble getting a triple boot system working with Fedora, XP, and Vista. I have no experience with Mactel. I have an OSX10 dvd around somewhere for Intel. Maybe I'll try adding another hard drive to my rig and see if I can get it to triple boot on my hardware and report back.

I've successfully created a triple boot Mac OS X/Win XP/Ubuntu 6.10 machine. That runs just fine. I'm trying to do the same with Fedora Core 5 (or 6) but the installs insist on re-formatting the entire disk - I never get a chance to identify the partition I want Fedora to use. Anything new?
